Vous le connaissez Portocalos, n’est-ce pas ? My Big Fat Greek Wedding! J’en étais à expliquer l’origine de Cataphora il y a quelques jours et l’interviewer a failli me demander où j’avais mon Windex caché.

Puis, le matin, à l’heure du premier café, avec le premier soleil (quand il y en a), j’aime bien me chauffer les neurones avec des enculages de mouches. Donc pas encore des sujets de biolo.

Ce matin, j’en étais à [orthographie|orthographe]. Même le flacon y était, l’usuel de Dominique pour nettoyer les tables. Vous allez voir, la mouche en a eu pour son compte.

Puis, la première caféine commençant à circuler, je passe en revue les messages divers. Je tombe sur celui de Michel. Je n’avais pas reconnu François de Closets et je suis déçu de ne pas savoir plus sur cette histoire de chemise au sujet du bonheur. Je ne vois pas le lien avec le pari de Paris. Pas encore.

L’extrait que Michel nous donne de “Zéro faute” est intéressant :

En bon français, on devrait parler d’orthographie, mot du genre féminin.(…)Il devrait exister une orthographie, science de l’écriture, pratiquée par un orthographe. La faute de construction est évidente. Mais, étant consacrée par l’usage, elle n’est relevée par aucun de nos grands orthographieurs.

Comme je venais d’être habité par Gus, nous avons notre mot à dire écrire. Je suis certain que Michel trouvera les linguistes qui pourront commenter le sujet à notre profit à tous.

Γραφή donc, l’écriture, forme qu’on trouve encore en grec moderne, comme dans καταγραφή, επιγραφή, ou υπογραφή, pourrait être la forme qui a donné ορθογραφή et donc orthographe. L’écriture correcte au sens premier du mot [Manière, considérée comme correcte, d'écrire un mot] et non pas une science de l’écriture. Une science de ce qui est correct ? Vraiment ? Une science ? Curieuse notion. Tout au plus des règles qu’on accepte (ou pas), et là grammaire et syntaxe devraient suffire.

M’est avis que “orthographie” est plus une figure de style qui se la pète puriste qu’autre chose.
